Keep the ball dirty
To avoide the penalty.

A ball slipped through the mud which is made after rain, being covered with dirt and stopped. If striking as it is, there is a possibility that the mud splashes. Also, there is a possibility that it does not get on the line well.
However, penalty is added if you pick up the ball.
Two strokes will be added if you wipe the ball, so leave the dirt on the ball as it is. By rolling the ball, it may turn into a clean ball.
However, the ball can be wiped if picking it up under the rule as follows. Otherwise, penalty is added for picking it up, but no more penalty is added.
